Houston, TX—Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) released her second television ad of the general election cycle. The 30-second spot, ‘Test,’ highlights Fletcher’s record on protecting and strengthening access to health care during her time in Congress and through the COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Test’ will run on Houston broadcast and cable stations starting today.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of our lives, and the last thing that families need to worry about is not being able to afford the care they need,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. “Everyone should have access to good, affordable health care—it’s never been more important. While the Trump administration and the State of Texas are working to dismantle our health care system, I am fighting to protect our care, to improve it, and to help more people access it.”
One study estimates that more than 650,000 Texans have lost their health insurance because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Congress, Fletcher has fought to strengthen the health care system, making policy improvements and proposals that would provide a tangible difference for Houstonians even as the Trump administration supports efforts to strike down the Affordable Care Act.
Fletcher serves on the New Democrat Coalition’s Health Care Task Force, which develops and advances policies to improve our health care system. Delivering on her 2018 campaign promise, she worked to pass legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs by giving Medicare the ability to negotiate the price of prescription drugs. She also voted in favor of legislation to protect people with pre-existing conditions from losing coverage and legislation to expand health care coverage and encourage states like Texas that have not expanded Medicaid to do so.
If you test positive for COVID,
the last thing you should have to worry about is not being able to afford the care you need.
I’m Lizzie Fletcher, and that’s why I’m fighting to protect your care.
Protecting coverage for people with pre-existing conditions,
and passing a bill to give Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription drug prices.
I approve this message because everyone should have access to good, affordable health care.
It’s never been more important.
