Houston, TX—Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) announced she has earned the endorsements from Houston City Council Members Abbie Kamin, District C; Robert Gallegos, District I; Ed Pollard, District J; Martha Castex-Tatum, District K; David Robinson, At-Large Position 2; and Sallie Alcorn, At-Large Position 5. Today’s endorsements add to the diverse coalition of local support Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher has earned for re-election.
“I am proud to receive the support of these members of Houston City Council who work each day for the benefit of our district and our city. I am committed to partnering with them to advance solutions for critical issues in this community—from COVID-19 relief, to transportation to flood mitigation to long-term economic growth,” Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher said. “In Houston, we work together to solve problems, and I look forward to working with these leaders and others to do what is right for Houston.”
“Throughout her first term, Congresswoman Fletcher has been incredibly responsive to her constituents, including those who live in the council district I represent. I have seen firsthand how hard she fights for all of us, taking real action on important issues while working across the aisle in Washington. She puts constituents’ needs first and I trust Lizzie to get things done. I am proud to support her for re-election. We need to ensure Lizzie is able to continue working for all of us in Washington,” said Houston City Council Member Abbie Kamin, District C.
“I am proud to endorse Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher, who has delivered on the promises she made to the people of Houston,” said Houston City Council Member Robert Gallegos, District I. “With the passing of the METRONext referendum, it’s important that our representatives in Congress work to improve our region’s transportation systems and infrastructure. Lizzie’s position on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee ensures that she will continue fighting to do just that. Lizzie has kept her focus on Houston and on making sure our community, our businesses, and our neighbors have the support they need. I trust her as our partner in Washington.”
“In an increasing climate of political partisanship, Congresswoman Fletcher has masterfully maneuvered through the divisiveness and put all people in her district first. She has earned the opportunity to continue representing us in D.C.,” said Houston City Council Member Ed Pollard, District J.
“Lizzie knows this community and she brings our voice to Congress. As we continue to face complex challenges in the coming years, I look forward to working alongside her to develop thoughtful solutions that lift up all Houstonians,” said Houston City Council Member Martha Castex-Tatum, District K.
“Our region faces complex challenges—from expanding our transit systems to strengthening our infrastructure—and there is no stronger advocate for us in Congress than Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. She understands this community, she prioritizes our needs, and she makes us proud in Washington,” said Houston City Council Member David Robinson, At-Large Position 2.
“Lizzie knows how to bring people together around the issues most critical to our region. She has worked with local leaders to prioritize flood recovery and resiliency, she has listened to and advocated for our transit needs, and she fights for the businesses and jobs that make Houston the best place to live and work. I am proud to support her re-election and look forward to continuing to work with her on behalf of all Houstonians,” said Houston City Council Member Sallie Alcorn, At-Large Position 5.
Fletcher recently announced endorsements from top Harris County and law enforcement officials, a bipartisan coalition of mayors within Texas’ Seventh Congressional District, and all living former mayors of the City of Houston. Throughout her first term, Fletcher has successfully partnered with elected officials at the local and national levels, and she has built extensive support behind her re-election campaign.
