FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 16, 2018
Houston, Texas – Lizzie Pannill Fletcher, Democratic candidate for Congress, today released her vision for Texas’ 7th Congressional District. Moving Us Forward lays out the policy priorities that Fletcher will focus on moving into the final months of this general election campaign.
After more than a year talking with voters across TX-07, Fletcher developed Moving Us Forward to prioritize the issues that people—not political parties—care about most.
Some of the key areas that Fletcher will prioritize include making our city’s infrastructure more resilient, supporting local economic development and encouraging domestic job growth, addressing the rising costs of health care and prescription drugs, and protecting Social Security and Medicare.
“It is time for a representative who knows who we are, understands our challenges, and has a plan to lead us forward,” Fletcher said. “That starts with listening to people in our community and building common ground to ensure that our community’s core values—inclusion, innovation, and collaboration—bring opportunity for more Americans. Unfortunately, after nearly two decades in Washington, John Culberson has consistently put party over people, and failed to advocate for this community.”
Lizzie is the Democratic nominee in Texas’ 7th Congressional District, a district that Hillary Clinton carried in the 2016 election. CNN, Sabato’s Crystal Ball, and Daily Kos all recently changed Texas’s 7th Congressional District to a key “toss-up” race in their 2018 election rankings. She has been endorsed by EMILY’s List, a leading national organization dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women to office, and designated a Red to Blue candidate by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Lizzie is the first woman partner at AZA, a Houston law firm, where she has represented businesses and Houstonians from all walks of life, helping them find solutions to complex problems. She has been recognized by her peers as one of the ‘Best Lawyers in America’ in U.S. News and World Report. She co-founded Planned Parenthood Young Leaders, and currently serves on the boards of directors for Writers in the Schools (WITS) and Open Dance Project.
