Lizzie Fletcher, Democratic Candidate for Texas’ 7th Congressional District, Announces Raising More Than $1.4 Million for 2018 Cycle

Raises more than $170,000 in last 31 days

Houston, Texas – Democratic primary runoff candidate Lizzie Pannill Fletcher announced today that, between April 1- May 2, her campaign raised more than $170,000, bringing her overall fundraising total above $1.4 million for the cycle.

“Our campaign is ready to take on Tea Party Republican John Culberson and elect a real advocate for TX-07,” Fletcher said. “Our campaign has been, and continues to be, powered by
this community. I am proud that nearly half of my runoff contributions are from residents of this Congressional district, and more than 80% of funds raised are from Texans. We have built a coalition of supporters that is poised to unseat John Culberson and bring this district the representation it deserves.”

“Our aggressive fundraising has allowed us to communicate our positive message with voters across this district,” Fletcher said. “By communicating on television, online, and through the mail, we have been able to share my story of being a lifelong fighter for Houston families – as an advocate for women’s reproductive healthcare; as a volunteer working to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline; and as a lawyer fighting on behalf of workers, small business owners, and others in the courtroom.”

Fletcher is a candidate in the Democratic primary runoff election for Texas’ 7th Congressional District, a district that Hillary Clinton carried in the 2016 election. In the primary election on March 6, Fletcher won 96 out of the 143 precincts where Democrats cast ballots. Out of 34,211 ballots, she received 9,768 votes (or 29.36% of the vote) and finished first in the early vote, absentee ballot vote, and Election Day vote.

She has been endorsed by the Houston Chronicle, a coalition of local community leaders and elected officials, as well as EMILY’s List, a leading national organization dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women to office.
