FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 24, 2018
Houston, Texas – Democratic primary runoff candidate Lizzie Pannill Fletcher released her first television commercial of the runoff election highlighting her commitment to protecting Houston families. The ad, “Ready,” focuses on her decades- long advocacy in Houston and record of success as a lawyer: standing up for Planned Parenthood and reproductive healthcare, and fighting for men and women facing unfair treatment at work, immigrants, and small businesses in the courtroom.
Lizzie Fletcher, Democratic Candidate for Texas’ 7th Congressional District, Releases First TV Ad of the Runoff Election
“Ready” Puts the Focus on Houston Families
“I am proud of my record standing up for Houstonians, whether on the front lines of Planned Parenthood protecting women’s healthcare or in the courtroom fighting for working men and women in our community,” Fletcher said. “This district needs an advocate in Washington who understands that the job is to represent Houston, not Washington special interests. I stand ready to fight back against the dangerous policies of Donald Trump and unseat one of his most loyal enablers, Tea Party Republican John Culberson.”
When Houston families are threatened ... we fight back.
I’m Lizzie Fletcher, and I fought for the young mother who counted on Planned Parenthood for healthcare. The immigrant small business owner who needed a lawyer to protect her life savings.
The refinery inspector who needed help in court to make sure he could keep his job.
And employees fighting discrimination at work.
Now Donald Trump is threatening every Houston family.
I approved this message because I’m ready to fight back.
Fletcher is the first of the candidates to make a television buy in the runoff election, and plans to communicate aggressively to voters over the coming weeks. This initial buy will run on cable networks.
Fletcher is a candidate in the Democratic primary runoff election for Texas’ 7th Congressional District, a district that Hillary Clinton carried in the 2016 election. In the primary election on March 6, Fletcher won 96 out of the 143 TX-07 precincts where Democrats cast ballots. Out of 34,211 ballots, she received 9,768 votes (or 29.36% of the vote) and finished first in the early vote, absentee ballot vote, and Election Day vote.
Fletcher also holds a substantial lead in fundraising, with nearly $400,000 Cash on Hand (as of the March 31, 2018 reporting deadline) compared to just over $90,000 for the other candidate in the runoff. 80% of Fletcher’s runoff fundraising is from Houston residents, and just under 90% from Texans.
